The children in Classes 1 and 2 thoroughly enjoyed celebrating St. George's Day. We discussed what St. George's Day is and who George was before watching a video clip of the story 'St. George and the Dragon' (see video below). Throughout the morning, the children took part in a variety of activities, including: English country dancing, making English red roses, making crowns, making wooden spoon dragons, making sandwiches for a tea party, creating tin foil knights, building castles in the construction areas, painting pictures on the computers and completing word searches!

In the afternoon, we had our very own British tea party. The children sampled their own sandwiches as well as enjoying a scone and a small slice of Victoria sponge cake. During the tea party, the children enjoyed listening to various English songs, including the national anthem, Jerusalem and sweet chariot.
